Local transmissions of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) here is now at 64 percent, the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) said in its regular health briefing Tuesday.

DOH-13 data as of Sept. 21 showed the city has 591 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began in March, with 282 recoveries, 285 active cases, and 24 recorded deaths.

Of the city’s total number of cases, 380 or 64 percent are local transmissions, 41 (7 percent) are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), 18 (3 percent) are returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), 113 (19 percent) are health care workers, and 30 (5 percent) are front-liners, DOH-13 data showed.

DOH-13 said Barangay Libertad here still tops the most number of Covid-19 infections at 81 cases, followed by Ambago with 48, Villa Kanangga 46, Doongan 36, and Bayanihan with 31.

The agency also announced 14 new Covid-19 infections as of Monday, all recorded in Butuan City and classified as local transmissions.

“Of the newly confirmed Covid-19 cases, 11 are having mild symptoms while three are experiencing severe symptoms. The new cases are now quarantined, monitored, and managed accordingly,” the DOH-13 said.

Five of the new cases are local transmissions, four are health care workers, four have close contact with previously confirmed cases and a front-liner.

Caraga, as of Monday, has a total of 1,063 confirmed Covid-19 infections with 594 recoveries, 436 active cases, and 33 recorded deaths.

The number of local transmission in the region now stands at 466 or 44 percent, while cases among LSIs are recorded at 297 (28 percent), ROF 62 (6 percent), health care workers 151 (14 percent), and front-liners 43, the DOH-13 said. (PNA)
