The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is among the government agencies that continue to extend assistance to internally displaced families (IDF) in Marawi City on their way to rehabilitation and recovery.

As of September 30, more than PHP1.2 billion worth of transitory family support package (TFSP) have been distributed to 21,610 families since government troops won the war against Maute terrorists in October 2017, the DSWD said in a statement on Monday night.

The TFSP is one-time cash assistance ranging from PHP53,000 to PHP67,000 per family.

The DSWD also contributed some PHP905 million worth of livelihood settlement grants to help IDF fund start-up micro-enterprises or identified livelihood, and more than PHP20 million worth of food packs.

Social protection programs and interventions worth about PHP2.1 million also went to unserved families included in the Kathanor database, a biometrics profiling system of Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM).

Currently, DSWD performs technical assistance and resource augmentation to the Ministry of Social Services and Development of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for regular programs such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Sustainable Livelihood Program, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens, and Supplementary Feeding, among others.

On Saturday, President Rodrigo Duterte led the commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Marawi and witnessed the unveiling of the rehabilitated Grand Mosque.

He lauded the TFBM for spearheading the rebuilding process and “allowing the rays of hope to light up the darkness that once enveloped the city of Marawi”. (PNA)
