Mayor Edgardo Labella on Thursday announced that 96 patients who spent their isolation at a city-run patient care center at the South Road Properties here have recovered from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Labella visited the Project NOAH Complex at the city-owned prime reclamation lot to meet the patients who were due for discharge from the facility.

Project NOAH is a temporary facility for Covid-19 positive but asymptomatic patients.

The patients received their negative test results last Monday.

“I come here when I learned that there are so many recoveries because I should not let it pass if I cannot express my sincerest gratitude and commendation to the men and women behind this facility. I am referring to Vice Mayor Mike Rama, Councilor Dondon Hontiveros, Atty. Jocelyn Pesquera, Dr. Peter Mancao, Dr. Ester Concha, and all others,” Labella said in mixed English and Cebuano.

He reminded the patients who have recovered from the coronavirus to share their experience to their community so that others may learn how they “won the battle against the invisible enemy”.

The DOH-7 case bulletin revealed that the city now has a total of 4,675 total recoveries since the start of the coronavirus crisis.

As of Wednesday, the city has 76 new confirmed infections, raising the total number of active cases here to 3,267.

Of the tally, 2,114 patients are classified as either asymptomatic or mild patients who are now being isolated or treated in patient care facilities in the city.

Aside from the Project NOAH, the city government also runs the Cebu City Quarantine Center (CCQC) while the Sacred Heart School Bayanihan Field Center and the EIC Bayanihan Field Center are being supported by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas.

At least 1,153 patients in Cebu City are being treated in different hospitals, the DOH-7 said.

The city has a total of 435 Covid-19 deaths.

Rama appealed to the Cebuanos who have recovered from the deadly virus to remind others especially their family members to always follow the minimum health standards like the wearing of face mask and safe physical distancing.

The city government, he said, will keep on reminding the residents to always stay at home if they do not have a business to attend to outside. (PNA)
