Negros Teachers Serving In Polls Assured Of Honoraria On Time

Public school teachers who will serve as members of the Electoral Board (formerly Board of Election Inspectors) are now assured of getting their honorarium on time, with payments to be made in cash.

Lawyer Eliseo Labaria, provincial election supervisor of Negros Oriental, said that this time, the honoraria will be coursed through the different election officers in the towns and cities where the mentors will be serving on election day.

According to him, once the teachers have completed and submitted all the requirements after the elections, they shall be paid in cash.

Unlike in the past where the giving of honorarium hit snag due to problems on the cash cards that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) issued, this time there will be no more issues, Labaria said.

He assured that the money is available for the payment of honoraria for the teachers.

More than 2,000 teachers will serve in the Electoral Boards in the May 13 elections in Negros Oriental.

Each Electoral Board is composed of a chairman, a poll clerk, and a third member. (PNA)
