Philippine Army soldiers have conducted humanitarian assistance to 2,187 families affected by Typhoon Ulysses in Dingalan town.

Lt. Col. Reandrew Rubio, commanding officer of the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion based in Barangay Calabuanan, on Wednesday said a squad of military troops was deployed to typhoon-affected areas in Dingalan as part of the soldiers’ humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) mission.

He said the Army troopers provided security and manpower assistance in the distribution of relief goods to 1,067 families in Barangay Ibona and 1,120 families in Barangay Umiray, both in the said town on Tuesday.

“The conduct of food packs distribution to the affected communities in Dingalan town is part of our HADR operations. We are collaborating with different stakeholders for their possible assistance and donations such as blankets, clothes, water, and food stuffs intended for the typhoon victims,” Rubio said in an interview.

He said the 91st IB assisted the local government unit (LGU) of San Luis in the distribution of relief goods to indigenous peoples (IP) communities in barangays Dimanayat and Dikapinisan.

Rubio assured that the Sinagtala Battalion will continue to work with concerned agencies and stakeholders to respond to the needs of the communities. (PNA)
