The Regional Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) in Central Luzon is strengthening the implementation of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategy under the national action plan at the community level.
The move aims to curb the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in some local government units (LGUs) in the region.
The regional IATF task force, headed by its chairperson and Office of Civil Defense Regional Director Maria Theresa Escolano, met on Saturday the local IATF task force of Balanga City, Bataan led by Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia to discuss various strategies against Covid-19.
During the meeting, Balanga City officials presented the current Covid-19 situation in the city and its response strategies and innovations that are being implemented to contain the dreaded virus.
As of Saturday, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Balanga City reached 211, with 87 in active status.
There are 119 who have recovered from the dreaded disease so far while the total number of deaths is five.
The regional IATF task force shared the various measures that include the local government unit (LGU) toolkit, and the zoning containment strategy which are considered to be effective tools to fight Covid-19.
After the meeting, a total of 100 sets of Department of Health-procured full personal protective equipment (PPE), 1,000 surgical face masks, and bottles of alcohol were provided to the city government of Balanga. (PNA)
