7. Luyong Kabig
An earth goddess, Luyong Kabig is a guard of the underworld’s entrance. Known to be a snake goddess, she ‘hugs’ the souls tightly so they couldn’t escape.
Luyong Kabig is also said to be near-blind, so she had to rely on her sense of smell. In the old times, appearance of snakes warn the coming of earthquakes and our ancestors would thank Luyong Kabig for her warnings by sending her snakes.
