Some 1,000 public school teachers in Negros Occidental will undergo upskilling trainings on artificial intelligence (AI) and English proficiency through the support of the provincial government.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jose Benito Alonso turned over the symbolic 1,000 vouchers to Department of Education-Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales during the inauguration of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) Global Campus in Talisay City on Tuesday.

“Another milestone we proudly celebrate today is the awarding of 1,000 upskilling vouchers for our public school teachers. These are passes to transformation for the backbone of society’s advancement, our nation builders, and the drivers of humanity’s progress — the teachers,” Lacson said.

Through the vouchers, select public school teachers can enroll in upskilling courses at the NOLITC.

Sales thanked the provincial government for the training opportunity for teachers, adding that the vouchers will be distributed equitably to all schools division offices in the province.

“The intention of the province is to really capacitate the teachers on AI and in English. Eventually, it will redound to the benefit of the students. Even us, leaders, are interested to be trained. We also should be capacitated and be proficient about the use of AI and the language,” she said. (PNA)
