A total of 52 overseas Filipinos have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) this week, data from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) showed Saturday.

Based on its latest monitoring, the agency recorded 47 survivors in the Asia Pacific and five in the Middle East/Africa region from May 30 to June 5, jacking up the count to 12,056.

In the same period, about 124 new infections and 15 fatalities were also logged. Of the casualties, one came from the Asia Pacific and 14 were from the Middle East/Africa region.

 

As of this posting, the number of active cases is pegged at 6,628 while the death toll is at 1,194.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Covid-19 recoveries saw a slight decrease to 60.65 percent. Meanwhile, fatalities and those under treatment increased to 6.01 percent and 33.34 percent, respectively,” the DFA said.

Since the pandemic started, the Middle East/Africa regions had the highest figures in all categories, namely recoveries at 6,293, active cases at 4,268, and deaths at 789. (PNA)
