The City Health Office here said at least 86 healthcare frontliners have already contracted coronavirus disease (Covid-19) since the start of the pandemic.
Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Thursday 59 of the 86 health care workers are working with the government while the remaining 27 are employed in the private sector.
Miravite said the infected healthcare personnel comprise of three physicians, 47 nurses, three midwives, while the remaining 33 are from other allied medical professions.
The local government, she assured, is looking after the health condition of the infected front-liners.
As of Wednesday evening, the city has a total of 1,331 cases of Covid-19, 435 of which are active, with 839 recoveries and 57 deaths.
The city registered its first Covid-19 case on March 24, four days after the enhanced community quarantine.
The city is currently under modified general community quarantine since September 1. (PNA)
