A total of 93 police personnel from the five police districts of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have completed their training on the tactical motorcycle rider course to beef up the security and protection of communities against criminals.
The NCRPO has five districts — the Manila Police District (MPD), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Northern Police District (NPD), Southern Police District (SPD), and Eastern Police District (EPD).
The 93 cops from the five police districts of the NCRPO and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), composed of 42 female and 51 male participants, concluded the training.
The 42-day training updated the skills of the participants on techniques and procedures in countering crimes involving motorcycle-riding suspects and other street crimes.
The training was facilitated under the supervision of Col. Julius Guadamor, chief of the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division.
As part of their training, the participants were educated on motorcycle riding skills, basic and tactical mobile traffic law enforcement and confidence motorcycle riding.
During Tuesday’s closing rites, both female and male participants showcased the skills they have learned during the training in a field demonstration in the presence of their relatives and comrades.
“Training is an opportunity to gain learning but more than that, it further enhances one’s aptitude and promotes one’s expertise. When you look forward to career proficiency, you should equip yourselves with operational readiness and you can have it through training.” said Maj. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, NCRPO chief, in his message read by deputy director for operations, Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, during the closing rites of the tactical motorcycle rider course class 2022-02 and 03 “Lycanthrope” held at the NCRPO grandstand in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City.
Wanky congratulated the TMRU graduates and emphasized that the NCRPO gives emphasis on skills training, particularly for crime prevention which will serve as a tool in handling lawless elements or any situation that needed their skills. He also encouraged the participants to keep up with their stamina.
“As members of the TMRU, always maintain your stamina and fitness while doing your job,” said Wanky.
The TMRU is in line sustenance of the NCRPO S.A.F.E. Program initiated by Estomo that maximizes all necessary police work to increase police presence, provide easier police accessibility, and trigger faster police response.
Meanwhile, Estomo lauded Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, and his men for the arrest of Ian Torres, 37, the number two district drug priority target and seized from him PHP7.1 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation along Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue in Barangay Katipunan, Quezon City on Monday evening.
The buy-bust operation set by the joint operatives of the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) and Masambong Police Station (PS 2) in coordination with PDEA yielded a total of 1.05 kilograms of shabu, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money used during the operation.
A complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect while the drug evidence seized will be turned over to the crime laboratory for examination.
