At least two water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) trucks and a water purifying machine will be sent to Batangas province to benefit thousands of Taal Volcano eruption victims, the Albay Public Safety Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) said.

Cedric Daep, APSEMO chief, said the Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council chaired by Gov. Al Francis Bichara decided to send a team to conduct a humanitarian mission in the disaster-stricken areas.

Bichara said in a recent coordination meeting with Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas, the latter expressed concern about the lack of water facilities in various evacuation camps.

“Based on the need for water, it was agreed that Albay would send a WASH team to assist in producing and distributing clean water in areas where the team would be assigned,” he said

Daep said the two WASH trucks can carry 22,000 liters of sanitized water.

The Albay team would hold its humanitarian mission in Batangas for 15 days, he added.

Bichara was scheduled to lead the sendoff ceremony for the group composed of personnel from the APSEMO and provincial engineering, health and social welfare offices Wednesday night. (PNA)
