The Philippine National Police (PNP) has enlisted 243 new cops to boost law enforcement in Eastern Visayas.

They are part of the 596 applicants in the first and second cycle recruitment program for 2020, said Brig. Gen. Ronaldo de Jesus, PNP Eastern Visayas Director, in a statement on Monday.

“We have strictly followed the set minimum health standards to fight the spread of coronavirus disease during this year’s recruitment process,” he said.

The new recruits – 215 males and 28 females, took their oath at the regional office grandstand in Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo, Leyte last Oct. 30.

They will undergo the mandatory training supervised by the PNP regional training center, which includes the six-month public safety basic recruit course at Kuta Kankabato, San Jose village here and another six-month field training program at the regional special training unit.

De Jesus reminded the new PNP members to adhere to the ideals of the organization and serve as personification of service, honor, and justice.

“The force of law enforcement is for those with fervent hearts, brave souls, and upright principles. As your regional director, I dare you to go extra mile. Let us put integrity to the public trust and confidence afforded to us,” he added.

The region has more than 8,000 police personnel assigned to the regional office and six provinces. (PNA)
