The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allotted some PHP17 million for the construction of an ecotourism site in Barangay Bocboc in this city.

In an interview on Wednesday, city information officer Jhuliano Nazareno said the city government plans to develop the river in the area as the “San Carlos City Esplanade Bocboc People’s Park”.

Nazareno said the first phase of the construction is expected to be started within this year that would boost the city’s tourism industry.

He added the city government, through its city planning and development office, will put up boating sites, walkways, biking areas, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, designated parking areas, zip lines, commercial zones, and restaurants, among others, in the area.

The Bocboc River is part of the Agno River system where people used to visit during the “Pistay Dayat” (Beach Feast) during the month of May every year.

“The area used to be a picnic site and the local government unit aims to develop it to totally become a tourist destination,” he said. (PNA)
