The organization of Miss Ecuador will soon host the coronation ceremony for Miss Ecuador 2021 and one of the candidates that caught the attention of everyone is Victoria Salcedo, who lost her three limbs due to an accident at the age of 5.

A 23-year-old, who was electrocuted and lost both of her arms and left leg, decided to join the pageantry to prove her resilience. Salcedo hails from Guayaquil (a city in Ecuador) and studies Journalism.

In an interview with Shake My Beauty on YouTube, Salcedo shared how growing up was difficult for her to handle because she needs to wear prosthetics for the lost body parts. “I don’t remember my life before the accident,” she said.

She was only a child when life made her realize to stand out. When she grew up, she gained confidence and slowly realized that she no longer needed to convince people what she is capable of because she already rebuilt herself.

With positivity in mind, Salcedo said, “From my own experiences, I realized that when I reach an obstacle, I often try not to overcome it. Instead, I stay in my comfort zone. But if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. For me, that’s like a rule.”

As she moved forward, she embraced her adversity and became a motivational speaker. She widens her reach and even crowned as the Queen of Loja and named a National Angel in 2018. She boosted her confidence and built her reputation, now getting ready to win the crown of the much-awaited Miss Ecuador 2021.

As of writing, Salcedo gains followers on different social media platforms and now has more than 100k followers on Instagram and 260k on TikTok, where she shares her life stories and draws an impact on creating disability awareness content.

20 candidates are competing for each other to bring home the Miss Ecuador 2021 crown. The winner will succeed Miss Ecuador Leyla Espinoza from Los Ríos province.
