The Philippines logged another 15,290 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Thursday.

In its latest Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said this raised the recovery count to 3,377,958 or 94.2 percent out of a total of 3,585,461 confirmed cases.

Another 8,702 new infections were also recorded, the third straight day where new cases are below the 10,000-mark.

Thursday’s fresh cases are slightly higher than Wednesday’s 7,661 new infections.

Active cases, meanwhile, dropped to 153,335, from Wednesday’s 160,297.

Of the active cases, 143,493 have mild symptoms, 4,923 are asymptomatic, 3,067 have moderate symptoms, 1,528 have severe symptoms, and 324 are in critical condition.

The death toll increased to 54,168 with 71 new fatalities.

Based on the latest data on Covid-19 testing, there were 42,446 tests administered on Tuesday with a positivity rate of 25.5 percent.

The country’s health care utilization (HCUR) rate continues to drop as fewer people are getting hospitalized.

Nationwide, the country’s intensive care unit (3,800 beds) utilization rate is at 44 percent. Isolation (20,700) and ward (15,800) beds are both at 43 percent while 24 percent of 3,100 ventilators are in use.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), the HCUR is lower compared to the whole country, with the region’s 1,300 ICU beds at 37 percent, 4,700 isolation beds at 32 percent occupancy, 4,300 ward beds at 36 percent occupancy, and 23 percent of 1,000 ventilators in use. (PNA)
