Fourteen more displaced transport workers in Central Luzon have received livelihood assistance that could provide them with other sources of income.

The assistance is under the government’s “EnTSUPERneur” program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The program aims to provide alternative sources of income to public transport drivers and operators affected by the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program and the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

Nasrudin Talipasan, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regional head, said on Monday that nine of the new program beneficiaries received a sari-sari store package while the five others were awarded a rice retailing package.

Talipasan said six more beneficiaries will receive livelihood packages from Oct. 28-Dec. 2 this year.

He thanked the DOLE for its continuous support and assistance to the displaced drivers and operators.

He said the livelihood assistance is a big help to the transport workers affected by the reform in the public land transport industry.

“Tayo ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat sa Department of Labor and Employment sa kanilang patuloy na pagsuporta at pag-alalay sa mga draybers at operators na naapektuhan ng modernisasyon (We wholeheartedly thanked the Department of Labor and Employment for its continuing support and assistance to our drivers and operators being affected by modernization),” he said in a social media post.

Meanwhile, Talipasan asked the program beneficiaries to take care of and enrich the livelihood assistance given to them.

He said the LTFRB is still open to accepting applicants for the program. (PNA)
