Despite not getting to the podium during the Asian Weightlifting Championships this year, Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz still showed her eagerness and determination to fight for her competition in Paris next year.
On her Instagram account, Hidilyn shared her preparations for her next weightlifting Olympic competition next year.
Considering falling short during the recent Asian Weightlifting Championships in South Korea, the athlete revealed why she is still passionate about participating in the next competition.
“Despite all the challenges, the dream of competing and winning another Gold medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics is not only #TeamHD’s dream, [but] it’s [also] OUR dream, for our country,” she said.
Along with this, her coach also penned a message about her recent performance during the competition.
“Winning isn’t always medaling, winning is giving our all and making the climb to the top. This was a successful campaign because we’ve overcome a lot to get here. […] We set our goal to represent our country to the best of our ability and we are happy with our results,” Coach Julius Irvin said.
Hidilyn disclosed how she faced her fears and doubts as she trained for the competition next year, saying that she also endured her injuries for the past seven months.
Accompanying Hidilyn on her journey to the Paris Olympics, she expressed appreciation to the people who support her, such as her coach and the Philippine Sports Commission.
Surrounding herself with people who have the same positive vision as her, the athlete reassured her supporters that she would do her best in the upcoming competition.
