The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Monday turned over some PHP2.6 billion in revenues to the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr).

The handover is part of the gaming agency’s mandate to help the government to fund its charity efforts and boost the national coffers.

PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles personally handed over to BTr deputy treasurer Erwin Sta. Ana the check worth PHP2,665,701,213.78 at the BTr main office.

The amount represents the PCSO’s remittances to the BTr for 2022.

“This is a significant increase of 70 percent or PHP1,097,678,322.53 to the agency’s total remittance of PHP1,560,102,891.25 in 2021,” Robles said.

He also expressed his gratitude for the tireless efforts and support of the PCSO officers and employees, as well as their stakeholders, that resulted in greater earnings for the agency.

“We are proud to contribute to the government’s coffers. The P2.6 billion represents our unwavering commitment to serve the needs of the people,” Robles said.

Even as the PCSO general manager thanked the public for their continued patronage, he reiterated his earlier appeal to patronize only agency-sanctioned legal games. (PNA)
