The Philippine Senate recently honored the country’s Olympians from the Paris 2024 Games in a grand ceremony. Carlos Yulo, who won two gold medals, and bronze medalists Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, were awarded the Senate Medal of Excellence. This prestigious award acknowledges their exceptional performance and the standards of excellence and patriotism they embody.

The ceremony was attended by Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann, Executive Director Paulo Francisco Tatad, and Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino, who were present to support the athletes. Alongside the Medal of Excellence, the Senate also passed a resolution praising the athletes, the PSC, and the POC for their outstanding achievements, marking a historic moment in the nation’s Olympic history.

This Senate recognition not only honors the athletes’ hard work and success but also highlights their significant contribution to elevating Philippine sports on the international stage. The event reaffirmed the nation’s pride in their accomplishments and the importance of supporting Filipino athletes in future competitions.
