The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) received PHP17 million worth of new two-story building barracks, equipment, and mobility assets in a ceremony held at the provincial headquarters on Tuesday.

Antique Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda, who led the turnover, said the facility and mobility assets aim to help the local police ensure public safety and order.

The support consisted of barracks for male Police Non-Commissioned Officers, two vans, seven heavy motorcycles, two light motorcycles, and information communication technology (ICT) equipment.

The barracks, ICT equipment and mobility assets were procured through the Congress Initiated Changes Adjustment Fund 2023, sourced by Legarda and Senator Loren Legarda.

“We want to show our support to you (police) as our partners in progress. That’s why we are doing our best to give you everything you need, as possible, to continue what you ought to do,” Legarda said.

He believed that progress and development in Antique also depend on public safety and order.

Meanwhile, APPO Director Col. Lea Rose Peña expressed gratitude for the support they received.

“These will make significant advancement in the police operations,” he said.

She further said they would be crucial in public safety, crime prevention and emergency response.

On July 15, the APPO received a speedboat and diving equipment amounting to PHP2.5 million from Legarda to boost its search and rescue capability. (PNA)
