A 14-year-old eighth grader from Clarin, Bohol bested 12 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) children who vied for the 2024 Search for Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Children.

Gamalle Lhynn Regala, a resident of Barangay Bogtongbod in the town of Clarin in Bohol province emerged as the regional winner, besting the other three provincial winners.

Regala received a plaque of recognition and cash incentives while the provincial runners-up — Yasmin Baguio from Lazi, Siquijor (2nd); Ej Torquido from Dumanjug, Cebu (3rd); and Sydrick Jhames Tiaga from Basay, Negros Oriental (4th) received certificates of recognition and cash incentives.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 (Central Visayas) director Shalaine Marie Lucero said children-beneficiaries recognized as stakeholders of 4Ps play an important role in fulfilling the education and health outcomes of the program.

“Their unique stories inspire us to work harder for the betterment of each Filipino child,” Lucero said.

The search aims to recognize children under 4Ps who are excellent examples in their households, schools, and communities and to encourage the children to be active citizens by complying with the conditions of the program.

The four provincial winners will also represent the Central Visayas in the ongoing 4Ps National Children’s Congress that started on Monday and will culminate on Friday at the WaterWorld Cebu in Mandaue City, with other provincial winners from all over the country joining the event. (PNA)
