The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) reaffirmed their “enduring defense partnership” during the 8th PAF-RTAF Airman-to-Airman (A2A) Talks held at the Villamor Air Base on Tuesday.

In a statement on Wednesday, PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Christina Basco said the Philippine delegation was led by Air Force vice commander, Maj. Gen. Pablo Rustria Jr., who is also co-chair of the 8th PAF-RTAF A2A Talks.

During the meeting, Rustria highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the two Air Forces through key leader engagements, education and training exchanges, information sharing, and various capacity-building initiatives.

“He emphasized that sustained dialogue and collaboration enable both Air Forces to explore new opportunities to enhance interoperability, strengthen air operations cooperation, and contribute to regional peace and stability,” Basco said.

The Thai delegation, meanwhile, was headed by Air Marshal Wisanu Niamkome, who is also RTAF’s deputy chief of air staff (personnel) and co-chair of the talks.

Niamkome highlighted the significance of the A2A Talks as an essential platform for strengthening mutual understanding, expanding professional exchanges, and advancing defense cooperation between the PAF and RTAF.

“Prior to the formal discussions, Air Marshal Niamkome paid a courtesy call on Maj. Gen. Rustria Jr. During the meeting, both officials exchanged insights on ongoing and future bilateral cooperative activities and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further enhancing military-to-military relations between the Philippines and Thailand,” Basco said.

The PAF-RTAF A2A Talks serves as the primary annual coordination mechanism for bilateral activities between the two Air Forces. One of its key outputs is the finalization of proposed engagements and collaborative activities for inclusion in the succeeding Five-Year Work Plan.

The continued conduct of the A2A Talks reflects the strong and growing partnership between the Philippines and Thailand, anchored on mutual trust, shared strategic interests, and a collective commitment to promoting regional security, stability, and defense cooperation. (PNA)
