The economy of Antique grew by 8.55 percent in 2025, making it one of the 10 fastest local economies in the country.
This was announced by Governor Paolo Everardo Javier during the third quarter meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) at the New Antique Capitol in San Jose de Buenavista on Wednesday.
The 8.55-percent growth is nearly twice the national growth rate of 4.4 percent.
“This achievement tells us something very important: Antique is moving. Antique is growing. Antique is becoming more competitive,” Javier said.
He said the economic performance is a reflection of the hard work of the people.
Javier committed to strengthening the economic programs and services that must translate into sustainable opportunities, increased productivity, better livelihoods, and improved quality of life, saying that development must be felt by the people.
“The PDC adopted the Konsultasyon sa Katawhan kag Kabarangayan (Consultation among the people and barangays or 3Ks) Program during our first quarter meeting as a tool to ensure that our development plans and investments are grounded on the actual needs of our communities,” Javier said.
He said the program is critical in making sure that proposed projects are responsive to the needs of Antiqueños.
Javier cited the Provincial Electric Power Subsidy (PEPS) his administration has implemented as a result of the 3Ks.
“Through the PHP500 power subsidy of every household per month, there had been money saved by the beneficiaries from their power bills and had been circulated through their spending on their other needs that helped boost our economy,” Javier said
PEPS has 105,215 beneficiaries in Antique. (PNA)
