Design company Adidas created an Xbox-themed sneaker to be its first console-inspired footwear in celebration of Xbox’s 20th anniversary.
The brand features transparent green soles that are identical to the Xbox’s original clear, neon green housing, which represented the first-ever generation of gaming at Microsoft.
With authentic Xbox branding on the tongue and Adidas’ Boost cushioning in the midsole, the Adidas Forum Tech design creates a combination between nostalgia and today’s technology.
While this looks to be limited-edition footwear meant for giveaways, a similar Xbox-inspired sneaker will be available for retail later this year.
James Monosmith, a marketing manager at Xbox stated on Xbox official website “This is just the beginning of our partnership with Adidas, and over the next few months, we’ll continue to mark our 20th anniversary by launching additional sneakers inspired by past and present Xbox console generations, including the first-ever sneaker available for purchase by our fans later this year.”
Indeed, Microsoft promises that the Xbox 20th Forum Tech trainers are just the beginning of its partnership with Adidas and that the firm’s 20th anniversary celebrations will continue with the production of other trainers inspired by previous and present Xbox devices.
Moreover, Microsoft also plans to market an Xbox mini fridge this Christmas season. More details regarding the Xbox mini fridge plans will be released later this month, according to the company.
