As mothers around the world celebrate Mother’s Day, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar on Sunday took the opportunity to honor mothers for their “unmatched sacrifices”.

“We greet all the mothers out there a happy Mother’s Day. Today is a special occasion to express our endless gratitude, utmost admiration, appreciation, and respect for these exceptional women. Their unmatched sacrifices for us all, whether they may be mothers by birth, adoption, or foster care, are something we can never repay,” Andanar said in his Mother’s Day message.

He recognized mothers for teaching their children what it means to be human.

“It is through our mothers’ unwavering love, support, and guidance that we first experience happiness, comfort, and the wonders of life,” he said.

Andanar commended mothers who had to be away from their families to fight in the frontlines against Covid-19.

“On this special day dedicated to them, we value the contribution of all mothers, especially those working in the frontlines, to nation-building and our fight against Covid-19,” he said.

He also remembered mothers who are no longer there to celebrate with their children.

“During this opportune time, may we also remember those mothers who are no longer with us. Their lasting presence and spirit continue to live on within the generations they helped shape and form,” he added.

Meanwhile, he encouraged everyone to make sure their mothers feel their love and gratitude even after the occasion.

“Let us celebrate our mothers and make sure they feel our unending love and gratitude for the gift of life and for the deep affection and care, this day and every day,” he said.

Mother’s Day is a holiday celebrated in countries throughout the world in honor of mothers.

In the Philippines, “Mama, Nanay, and Inay” are just some of the different names being used to call their mothers. (PNA)
