The Antique provincial government on Monday turned over PHP70 million worth of equipment to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) for the improvement of its health facilities.

In her message, Antique Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, who led the turnover of the various equipment, said the ASMGH previously lacked the needed equipment for patients.

“Before, the equipment like the mammogram was just being dreamt of by the women,” she said, adding it is now available at the ASMGH and those who need it no longer have to go to Iloilo City.

The donated equipment, which were purchased through the Department of Health’s (DOH) Health Facility Enhancement Program for 2019, also include a video laryngoscope, fetal doppler, platelet agitator, and ventilator, among others.

“Through this hospital equipment, there is now a big leap for the improvement of our health services,” Cadiao said.

She said Antiqueños could now avail of modern, free, and readily available hospital equipment at the ASMGH.

“Antiqueños no longer have to spend so much to get well,” Cadiao said.

She also thanked Rep. Loren Legarda for helping the province avail of the equipment.

Antonio Legarda, who represented the Antiqueña solon, said the turnover of the equipment is intended to improve the lives of the people in Antique, especially on healthcare services.

“I am glad that we have now the equipment for our provincemates,” he said.

ASMGH chief of hospital, Dr. Jose Lyndion Perez, accepted the equipment along with Integrated Provincial Health Office officer-in-charge Dr. Leoncio Abiera, Jr. “The equipment are much needed as we attend to our patients,” Perez said.

He said they are now more confident and can effectively deliver the needed healthcare services in the province. (PNA)
