The national government-funded Bacolod City General Hospital, which will rise in Barangay Vista Alegre, will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to boost the delivery of healthcare services to Bacolodnons.

“This will be Bacolod’s first hospital run by the city. We will see a significant portion of this project completed next year,” Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said in a statement on Friday.

The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) financed the construction of the 127-bed healthcare facility.

Positioned as a state-of-the-art healthcare facility, it will feature amenities such as an emergency room, operating theater, intensive care unit, diagnostic laboratory, dental clinic, pharmacy, and chapel.

Patients can avail of services in obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, internal medicine, and outpatient services departments.

“We are committed to enhancing healthcare services for all Bacolodnons,” Benitez said.

The Bacolod City General Hospital, located on the almost four-hectare lot donated by the Gensoli family, is being established through Republic Act 11564, authored by Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya and sponsored by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.

DPWH-Western Visayas is implementing the construction of a multi-purpose building comprising three separate structures, including a dietary building, a morgue, and a linen and laundry office.

The construction of the four-story main hospital building is funded under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program and implemented by the DOH-Western Visayas through the city government. (PNA)
