Mayor Evelio Leonardia has called for the support of fellow local officials in his stint as lone representative of all local government units (LGUs) in the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

“I need the support and cooperation of my fellow local officials and I see this as an opportunity to advance the interest of all LGUs,” the mayor said in a statement on Monday.

Leonardia, who is the national president of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), will attend the LEDAC regular meeting in Manila for the first time on Thursday, since he was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to the post in September last year.

The LEDAC is the highest advisory body to the President for economic development.

During the meeting at the National Economic Development Authority head office in Pasig City, the council will formally turn over to Leonardia the original copy of his designation letter signed by the President on Sept. 23, 2019.

He will meet with the two LEDAC sector representatives, including Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman George Barcelon and National Youth Commission chair Ryan Enriquez, who are representing the private and youth sectors, respectively.

It will be followed by the discussion with the LEDAC Technical Working Group.

The LEDAC is composed of 20 members — the President as chair, the Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, seven members of the Cabinet designated by the President, three members of the Senate designated by the Senate President, three members of the House designated by the Speaker, and one representative each for the LGUs, the youth sector, and the private sector.
