Commuters in Balanga City, Bataan can now avail of free rides on board electric shuttles.
In partnership with the Global Electric Transport City Optimized Managed Electric Transport (GET COMET), the provincial government of Bataan on Tuesday started to test-run the electric shuttles within the city and is offering the free rides on Feb. 7, 8 and 10.
The vehicles ply the Bataan Peninsula State University main/Bataan National High School-Palaza Mayor de Balanga-Balanga Terminal route.
Governor Jose Enrique Garcia said the free rides program is part of the provincial government’s effort to promote an environment-friendly mode of transportation.
He added that the electric vehicles can also solve the problem of the public transport system on the high costs of gasoline and diesel.
Garcia urged his constituents to ride the electric shuttles so that they could provide feedback.
Each of the air-conditioned electric shuttles has a passenger capacity of 30 persons and has a wheelchair ramp for use by persons with disability. (PNA)
