Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong has endorsed Uswag Ilonggo Party-list, No. 99 on the ballot.

The Ilongga beauty queen who hails from Iloilo City’s Lapuz district is elated to know that Western Visayas is finally having a regional party-list that represents all sectors in the region. She said Uswag Ilonggo Party-list is the manifestation and embodiment of Region 6 as one.

“Nang mabalitaan ko po na mayroon na tayong sariling regional party-list para sa mga kasimanwa ko na mga Ilonggo at buong Region 6, sobrang natuwa po ako,” Ong said.

She said she is backing the congressional bid of Uswag Ilonggo Party-list, adding that she also wants to help in her own simple way by encouraging support for Region 6’s first regional party-list.

“Kaya naman sa simpleng kakayanan po natin ay nais ko po sanang makatulong sa ating rehiyon at sa mga kapwa Ilonggo. Suportahan po natin ang sariling atin at iboto po natin ang Uswag Ilonggo Party-list. Ang boto po natin ay para mas tumibay ang mga adbokasiya para sa ating pamilya at para lalong mas lumakas at maganda ang pag-unlad ng ating rehiyon,” the Ilongga beauty queen said.

Believing that Uswag Ilonggo Party-list will be the region’s louder voice and stronger force to effect legislations that are beneficial and essential for all Western Visayans, Ong is rallying support from her fellow Ilonggos to unite and send an additional representation in the House of Representatives.

“Very, very exciting po eto kasi for the first time magkakaroon ng sariling regional party-list ang mga Ilonggo at buong Region 6 sa Kongreso. That will be a very proud moment sa ating lahat. Kaya naman po this coming May 9 iboto po natin ang tunay na sariling atin.

“Huwag pong kalimutan at tignan ang likod ng balota. Number 99, Uswag Ilonggo Party-list. You and I po, sama-sama nating ihatid sa Kongreso ang Uswag Ilonggo Party-list kay aton gid ini,” Ong concluded.

Ong made history in the Miss Earth pageant. The Philippines posted a historic back-to-back win in the pageant when Ong was crowned Miss Earth 2015 during the coronation night held in Vienna, Austria on December 2015.

Besting 85 women to claim the crown, Ong succeeded Miss Earth 2014 and fellow Filipina Jamie Herrell. Her victory marked the first time in the pageant’s history that a country won for the second time in a row.

Meanwhile, Uswag Ilonggo Party-list is the first ever regional party-list in Western Visayas. Its 5-point agenda will surely push Region 6 to be one of the premier regions in the Philippines.

Uswag Ilonggo Party-list’s 5-point agenda are the following:

  • The well-being of every Ilonggo family comes first;
  • Proper healthcare for the poor;
  • Consistent programs on infrastructure and tourism;
  • Progress in agriculture and aquaculture (fishing);
  • Uphold more scholarships for the youth.
