To bolster the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) inoculation rollout for senior citizens here, acting Mayor Michael Rama on Monday said the city government will open drive-through and hybrid mobile vaccination centers.

At the sidelines of the rollout of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines at the New Normal Oasis for Adaptation and a Home (Noah) Complex, Rama said the city’s vaccine board is working to add more sites to raise the number of vaccination sites to 21.

“What we only need (is the) sufficient supply of vaccines,” he noted.

Rama said with the increase in the number of centers and establishment of hybrid vaccination sites, there would be no more reason for elderlies not to get their jabs.

He said the board is also inviting public and private sectors to adopt a vaccination site to ensure continuity of the inoculation until the desired population protection against Covid-19 is reached.

On Monday, the city began inoculating senior citizens with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after receiving 14,800 doses.

A ceremonial administration of the US-made vaccine was held at the NOAH Complex in the South Road Properties (SRP), which is one of the seven vaccination sites in this city.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, city health officer, told the press on Monday they are expecting more senior citizens to have themselves inoculated with the additional supply of vaccines that arrived here.

“We have already inoculated at least 27,000 senior citizens so far, both for first and second doses,” Ibones said.

The city is targeting to vaccinate around 100,000 elderlies.

Meanwhile, a total of 51,480 doses of the Pfizer vaccine is set to arrive in Cebu late Monday, transported straight from Belgium, according to the Philippine Information Agency here. (PNA)
