China Energy Engineering Group Col., Ltd continued to support the country’s National Greening Program with over 1,000 pine needles planted near a village beside the Kapangan Hyropower Plant in Kapangan town, Benguet province.

Some 15 employees of the project department of the Kapangan Hydropower Plant built by Guangxi Hydroelectric Construction Bureau under China Energy participated in the planting activity on Sept. 23.

“The activity was an active response of the company to the local government’s initiative to build an eco-friendly and green homeland,” the company said in a news release on Wednesday.

Afforestation has been taken as a crucial measure to further the Philippines’ greening efforts since the country launched the “National Greening Program” in 2011.

The project department of Kapangan Hydropower Plant has planted a total of 1,300 trees when it launched its first tree planting activity in surrounding area in June this year.

It also designated employees to manage the planted trees to improve the survival rate. (PNA)
