COVID-19 Recoveries In Caraga Rise To 477

Fifty-seven newly-confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Caraga Region over the weekend, the Department of Health in the area (DOH-13) said in a report Monday (Sept. 14).

The DOH-13 said of new infections recorded in the area, 30 were from this city, 12 in Bislig City, four in Cabadbaran City, seven in Agusan del Norte, three in Agusan del Sur, and one in Surigao del Sur.

“Of the new confirmed cases, 24 are a close contact of previously confirmed cases, 17 are considered local transmissions, seven are health workers, three locally stranded individuals (LSIs), five are with the history of travel to an area with local transmissions, and one front-liner,” the DOH-13 said.

Twenty-one of the new cases are asymptomatic, 34 are experiencing mild symptoms while two are with severe symptoms, the agency added.

“All 43 cases are quarantined, monitored, and managed accordingly while 13 cases are admitted in a facility,” it said.

One Covid-19 related death is also recorded in the region, the case of a 77-year-old male here with hypertension and lung disease who expired last Sept.7 hours after being rushed to a private health facility.

As of Sunday, DOH-13 said the region has a total of 840 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began in March this year, with 477 recoveries, 341 active cases, and 22 recorded deaths.

Rising local transmissions

DOH-13 also took note of the increasing number of local transmissions of Covid-19 in the region, particularly in this city, and recently in Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.

Of the total number of cases in Caraga, 39 percent or 325 are considered local transmissions while 288 or 34 percent are LSIs, 62 (7 percent) are Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs), 97 (12 percent) are healthcare workers, and 35 (four percent) are front-liners.

Butuan City as of Sunday has a total number of 443 Covid-19 cases, 63 percent of which, or 278 are considered local transmission cases, the DOH-13 said.

Bislig City, in the same period, has a total number of 40 Covid-19 cases, of which 38 percent or 15 are considered local transmissions. (PNA)
