Some 970 qualified farmers in this town received Thursday the PHP5,000 worth of financial subsidy from the Department of Agriculture (DA).

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Lingayen Information Office (MIO) said the cash aid was provided under the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) program of the DA.

Municipal agriculture officer, Dr. Rodolfo dela Cruz said RFFA is the government’s program for farmers affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

He said the financial subsidy is the second tranche the farmers have received from the department.

Dela Cruz urged the farmers to use the cash assistance in proper ways.

Aside from the cash subsidy, the MIO said the United Farmers and Irrigators Association of Barangay Rosario here received Tuesday one unit of rice combine harvester from the DA through the Philippine Center for Postharvest and Mechanization.

Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil thanked the DA for its support to the farmers in this town. (PNA)
