The Department of Agriculture in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) said prices and supplies of assorted highland vegetables remained stable at the trading post here even after Super Typhoon Karding.

“We were not affected by the typhoon, we only had winds so vegetable plantations did not suffer a lot,” DA-CAR regional director Dr. Cameron Odsey said in Ilocano Thursday.

Compared to the other provinces hit by “Karding”, Odsey said Cordillera recorded “very minimal damage”.

He cited a Sept. 28 vegetable inventory coming from the different public and private trading facilities at the capital town in La Trinidad, Benguet shows a total of 2,018 metric tons of assorted highland vegetables produced by the farmers.

Odsey said these vegetable supplies were transported and traded to markets in Baguio City, La Trinidad, National Capital Region, Mindanao, and Palawan.

“A daily average of PHP70 million is moving as a result of the vegetable trading,” he added. (PNA)
