A special vaccination week will be held simultaneously in all regions nationwide on September 26 to 30 to increase the country’s immunity level against Covid-19.

In a media briefing on Monday, Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said the national government is targeting areas which still has low vaccine coverage through the five-day inoculation drive.

“We have computed na kung tayo ay magkakaroon ng intensive effort during this campaign, we will be able to achieve at least five million to 21 million, depende po sa efforts na magagawa natin that time (if we’ll have intensive effort during this campaign, we will be able to achieve at least five million to 21 million, depending on our efforts that time),” she said.

As of Sept. 4, more than 72.6 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated.

Almost 18.2 million individuals have received their first booster dose and more than 2.3 million got their second booster dose.

The DOH, through the PinasLakas Campaign, has vaccinated 26,268 senior citizens out of the 1.07 million target and provided first booster doses to 2,252,080 individuals of the 23 million target.

“This (first booster coverage) is about 10 percent of the coverage that we need by October 8,” Vergeire said. “As early as now we’re mobilizing our regional offices and our local governments to help us on this.”

Currently, there are 19,283 PinasLakas sites nationwide. (PNA)
