At least 19 displaced transport workers in Central Luzon have initially received livelihood assistance to start them engaging in other sources of income.

The assistance is under the government’s “EnTSUPERneur” program which is jointly implemented by the Department of Transportation and Department of Labor and Employment to provide alternative sources of income for public transport drivers and operators affected by the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nasrudin Talipasan, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regional head, said on Tuesday the livelihood packages given to the beneficiaries were rice retailing, sari-sari stores, egg retailing, fried chicken stand, and grocery products.

Talipasan said 30 more program beneficiaries are set to receive their “kabuhayan” or livelihood packages starting Aug. 30 until Sept. 9.

He said the program is a big help for workers in the transport sector that is affected by the reform in the public land transport industry.

“Ingatan at lalo pang palaguin at pagyamanin ang kaloob na pangkabuhayan sa inyo. Sa ngayon, bukas pa din ang LTFRB sa pagtanggap ng mga aplikante sa naturang programa (Take care of and enrich the livelihood assistance given to you. The LTFRB is still open to accept applicants for such a program),” Talipasan said in a social media post. (PNA)
