Censorship By Another Name?

Censorship often arrives cloaked in a professional tone, as seen in the PCO’s recent media accreditation attempt. The withdrawal may quell immediate backlash, but it reveals a deeper challenge ahead: ensuring journalistic freedom is respected in an era when access to information can be easily restricted.

A new bridge that will enhance the people’s mobility will soon be constructed in the province of Aurora.

Denise Maria Ayag, assistant regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Central Luzon (DPWH)-3, together with Aurora lone district Representative Rommel Angara, led on Friday the ceremonial groundbreaking of the new 208.8-linear meter Diteki Bridge in San Luis town.

In his message, Ayag said the new structure will serve as a replacement for the existing narrow steel bridge that has been damaged over time.

“When completed, this new bridge will be able to accommodate an increased variety of vehicles as it is designed with a wider deck for easy passage in both directions, thus making traffic smooth in the area, particularly during the peak of the tourists’ influx,” he said in a social media post.

The bridge replacement project will be implemented by the Regional Construction Division in two phases with a funding allocation of PHP67.55 million and PHP115 million respectively, sourced from the 2022 General Appropriations Act.

The DPWH is also constructing a 90-lineal meter bridge worth some PHP104.71 million, also in San Luis, that is expected to provide residents with an efficient and reliable road transportation network by the time it is completed.

Ayag said the implementation of the projects is part of DPWH’s commitment to supporting Aurora’s tourism and economic growth and further improving inter-provincial mobility.

Angara cited the important role of DPWH’s infrastructure investments that have helped the development of the province and created a positive impact on the lives of the residents. (PNA)
