The third phase of the construction of Cutcut flyover in Angeles City is now in full swing to help solve the traffic problem of motorists in the province.

A project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the construction of the infrastructure is expected to ease traffic along the Fil-Am Friendship Highway and Rizal Extension, which is among the city’s main access roads to eastern Pampanga.

DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said on Monday the construction of the 700- meter flyover including its approaches will solve the bottleneck at the intersection of Porac-Angeles Road and the Friendship Highway.

Tolentino said the flyover project will also reduce the travel time from Barangay Telabastagan, San Fernando City to Clarkfield, Pampanga via the Friendship Highway.

He added that motorists traveling between Angeles City and Porac town will also benefit from the project.

As part of the ongoing construction of the third phase of the Cutcut flyover, the DPWH-Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office began Sunday the launching of the installation of concrete girders to be placed on top of the bridge piers on the portion of the Fil-Am Friendship Highway near Holy Family Academy.

To allow its installation, District Engineer Arleen Beltran said the temporary closure of road sections was already coordinated with the local government of Angeles City and Porac.

“On Aug. 14, we will once again close the area to vehicular traffic to make way for the continuation of the launching of concrete girders but this time, no vehicles will be able to pass through the main intersection of Angeles-Porac-Floridablanca-Dinalupihan Road and the Fil-Am Friendship Highway starting at 5 a.m.,” Beltran said in a social media post.

Another road closure on the portion of the Fil-Am Friendship Highway leading to Clark will be implemented on Aug. 28, she noted.

“The road closure is expected to cause heavy traffic in this area so the public is advised to plan their travel ahead of time. Traffic advisories are posted at strategic locations to guide motorists on alternative routes and to prevent any travel inconveniences,” Beltran said.

The construction of the four-lane Cutcut flyover including its approaches consists of six phases with a total project cost of PHP600 million. (PNA)
