“GMA Regional TV Weekend News” returns to GMA News TV with a new timeslot at 6:15 pm beginning May 2 as it starts a new season.

Making local newscasts available to more viewers nationwide, GMA Regional TV Weekend News originally aired at 5 pm on GMA News TV. Following the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, the newscast temporarily moved to GMA-7 from March 21 to April 25.

As the program ushers in Season 3 of its broadcast on Saturday, May 2, GMA’s only English newscast to date will be back on GMA News TV—this time as part of the news channel’s Saturday primetime line-up.

“GMA Regional TV Weekend News continues to bring Kapuso viewers in the different Philippine regions, including the National Capital Region, all the freshest news and developments in key cities and provinces all over the Philippines,” says GMA Regional TV Vice President and Head Oliver Amoroso. He adds, “We thank all our loyal viewers who continue to support our local newscasts every day and watch GMA Regional TV Weekend News every Saturday. Now that we are back on GMA News TV and on primetime block at that, we commit to providing our Kapuso all over the country the relevant information they need because local news matters especially in these challenging times. Now, more than ever, we believe that every Filipino must know what is happening in other areas of the country. GMA Regional TV Weekend News is here to do that.”

For its first primetime episode on May 2, Tek Ocampo, Sarah Hilomen-Velasco, and Real Sorroche of top-rating and award-winning GMA Regional TV One Mindanao serve as GMA Regional TV Weekend News anchors.

Other Kapuso news personalities taking turns as anchors are CJ Torida, Jasmin Gabriel-Galban, and Joanne Ponsoy of leading North Central Luzon newscast GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan; Cecille Quibod-Castro, Alan Domingo, and Lou Anne Mae Rondina of GMA Regional TV’s flagship local newscast in Central and Eastern Visayas—GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak; and Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna, Adrian Prietos, and Kaitlene Rivilla of pioneering Hiligaynon newscast GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas.

GMA Regional TV local news teams composed of RTV Balitang Amianan’s King Guevarra, Ivy Hernando, Kim Bandarlipe, and Russel Simorio; RTV Balitang Bisdak’s Nikko Sereno, Lou Anne Mae Rondina, Lian Singculan, and Fe Marie Dumaboc; RTV One Western Visayas’ Darylle Marie Sarmiento, Zen Quilantang, and John Sala; RTV One Mindanao’s Sheillah Vergara-Rubio, Rgil Relator, Jandi Esteban, and Cyril Chavez; RTV Bicol’s Rhayne Palino who caters to Southern Luzon viewers; and RTV stringers based in different parts of the Philippines complete the hard-working force behind GMA Regional TV Weekend News.

GMA Regional TV has continuously shown improving performance for its various local newscasts. Recently, GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan, GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, and GMA Regional TV One Mindanao triumphed over their respective competitions based on latest data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

During weekdays, GMA Regional TV’s regional newscasts are available from Mondays to Fridays at 5 pm via the Kapuso Network’s local channels all over the country.

Last April 20, GMA Regional TV also launched its newest addition to its local programs, the morning show GMA Regional TV Live! airing weekdays at 8 am via GMA Regional TV’s Central and Eastern Visayas channels.
