The provincial government acknowledged the role of barangay service point officers (BSPOs) in delivering health services and providing accurate data from the ground during their 2024 congress at Iloilo Convention Center in Mandurriao District on Monday.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. said the delivery of government programs and services is enhanced by data support from BSPOs.

“All of the programs of the province and the direction of your province are data-based. It could not be realized without you because only you can understand where to find the important data. And we need the accurate data,” he said in his message.

The congress convened 2,489 volunteer BSPOs who, according to Provincial Population Officer Ruel Von Superio, are the “pillar(s) of strength, compassion, and leadership” in their communities.

“This congress is not just a meeting. It is a celebration of the dedication, perseverance, and commitment that each Barangay Service Point Officer brings to public service. From the barangay halls to the farthest corners of our communities, your tireless efforts have contributed to the success and progress nga makita naton subong (that we can see now),” he said.

Superio also announced the increase in the allowance of volunteers in the province, including BSPOs.

He said from PHP4,000, they will get PHP5,000, which will be released starting the first week of December. (PNA)
