The show announced the involvement of the two singers last 26th of September 2019, intended to be a representation of Hispanic culture in Miami, this year’s Super Bowl’s host city. This makes it the first time the halftime show will be headlined by Latin music artists since Super Bowl XXXIII with Gloria Estefan.

Shakira kicked off the show with her biggest hits like “Whenever, Whenever” and “Hips Don’t Lie”. She was joined by Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny in her performance of ‘I Like It’ and ‘Chantaje’.

Later on, Lopez gave an electrifying performance on her hits like “Jenny from the Block”, “Waiting for Tonight”, “Booty” and “On the Floor”. J. Balvin joined her in a throwaway number of “Mi Gente”. Nearly 130 dancers joined Lopez’s set of the show.

Lopez’s daughter Emme Muñiz also appeared in her segment of ‘Let’s Get Loud’, performing a section of ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ and reuniting with Shakira for ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’.

This year’s Super Bowl LIV was held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The match sees the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in a 31–20 finish.
