At least 232 individuals benefited from various healthcare services during the ‘Lab for All’ (Laboratoryo, Konsulta at Gamot para sa Lahat) caravan in Barangay Villamonte in this city on Friday.

The beneficiaries availed of free medical consultation and medicines, screening tests and laboratory services provided by the City Health Office (CHO).

In an interview, Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP) focal person Mae Cuaycong said after the caravan in Barangay Villamonte, the ‘Lab for All’ services will also be brought to residents in remote areas of the city.

“We will prioritize these areas so they can also avail of free laboratory services,” she said.

Through the Bagong Pilipinas mobile clinic, the ‘Lab for All’ offers X-ray, ultrasound, and electrocardiogram services, as well as urinalysis, fasting blood sugar, hemoglobin, uric acid and cholesterol tests.

In Barangay Villamonte, other services included applications for enrollment and renewal of BacCHP membership, and lecture on the Pinggang Pinoy food guide for women in reproductive age.

Personnel from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) and the Department of Health also extended their services during the caravan.

In June last year, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez received the Bagong Pilipinas mobile clinic during the visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in the city.

The project, inspired by the First Lady’s ‘Lab for All’ initiative, aims to bring free medical consultations, laboratory services, and medicines to remote communities. (PNA)
