Local businessmen are pushing for better auto care servicing as they anticipate an incursion of motorists to Negros Oriental province following the recent creation of the Negros Island Region (NIR).

Danford Sy, president of the New Bian Yek Commercial Inc. (NBYCI), said in an interview on Wednesday that they are looking into rise in road traffic between Negros Oriental and Occidental, thus the need to improve further the auto industry services here.

During the blessing of the newly renovated office of the Goodyear Autocare-New Bian Yek Commercial, Inc. in this city, Sy said motorists will be looking for shops that provide services that are at par with global standards.

“This will boost consumer confidence and we hope that other shops in the auto care industry will also follow suit,” Sy said.

NBYCI is also investing in upgraded customer care that provides ease of business, comfort, and convenience, he added.

The NBYCI’s tire division started in the late ’70s under a different name, B.F. Goodrich, which now has transitioned to its current business name not only selling tires but also offers repair services, including digital diagnosis of vehicles.

Meanwhile, Edward Du, president of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI) lauded NBYCI for its latest innovation that will complement the upcoming NIR’s requirements.

Du noted that 16 national government agencies are assigned to Negros Oriental and the rest are in Negros Occidental.

“That means more people traversing the island to transact with all these national government agencies and so we must keep up with this development,” he said.

Aside from those doing government transactions, more leisure travelers and commercial vehicles will be plying the roads between both provinces, he added.

The NIR comprises both Negros provinces and the island province of Siquijor. (PNA)
