NephroPlus Philippines marked a major milestone in its commitment to advancing renal care in the country with the inauguration of its first-ever training facility – the NephroPlus Hemodialysis Training Center located at the GEMPC Building in Timog Avenue, Quezon City.

The launch of the training center comes at a crucial time for the Philippine healthcare sector, as dialysis cases continue to rise alongside the growing prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD). With more Filipinos requiring life-sustaining dialysis treatment, the need for accessible, high-quality dialysis centers has become more urgent, particularly in underserved communities. Equally important is the growing demand for highly trained hemodialysis nurses and technicians who can deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centered care.

Designed to address this need, the NephroPlus Hemodialysis Training Center aims to develop highly competent, ethical, and globally competitive hemodialysis professionals through structured programs aligned with the standards of the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine Society of Nephrology (PSN), and international best practices in renal care.

Hemodialysis Training Programs For Nurses And Technicians

The NephroPlus Philippines Hemodialysis Training Center currently offers two specialized two-month programs: the Hemodialysis Training Curriculum for hemodialysis nurses and the Reuse Technician Curriculum for hemodialysis technicians. Both training programs consist of a balanced mix of theory and practice to ensure that students gain a comprehensive and effective learning experience.

The nursing curriculum can accommodate up to 24 trainees per batch, where nurse-trainees gain access to a comprehensive learning progression from the fundamentals of kidney function and related diseases to advanced hemodialysis technologies and the patient-centered care philosophy that lies at the heart of NephroPlus. Meanwhile, the technician curriculum delivers comprehensive training on dialyzer operations, including cleaning, rinsing, sterilization, and waste management, with a strong emphasis on strict adherence to ethical standards and compliance protocols to ensure that every patient—whom NephroPlus refers to as a “guest”—is treated with respect and care.

The training center is open to NephroPlus employees and supports the company’s long-term goal of developing a sustainable, highly skilled dialysis workforce across its expanding network. Graduates may have the opportunity to join NephroPlus clinics locally or pursue international career pathways within the company’s global network, including in countries such as India and Saudi Arabia.

This initiative supports the company’s long-term goal of building a sustainable and highly skilled dialysis workforce across its growing network. Graduates will have the opportunity to join NephroPlus local clinics or pursue an international career within the company’s global network, including countries such as Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Kamal D. Shah, Co-founder of NephroPlus, traveled to the Philippines to visit the company’s first training center in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration, Kamal D. Shah, Co-founder of NephroPlus and a dialysis patient for 29 years, emphasized the company’s mission to transform how dialysis is perceived by patients and the public.

“At NephroPlus, we believe that everybody on dialysis can lead a completely normal life – work, travel, have fun, go to movies, bond with friends, and do everything that any individual can do,” said Kamal. “There’s been a misconception that once somebody starts dialysis, it’s the end of life, or that they become bedridden, frustrated, and sick. But that’s not necessarily true. If we provide good quality dialysis, our guests can continue living fully.”

Mr. Gowtham Arumugam, Country Head of NephroPlus, delivered a resonant message to the students about the realities of renal healthcare.

Gowtham Arumugam, Country Head of NephroPlus, emphasized the unique emotional demands of the profession, reflecting on the importance of the people-first approach at NephroPlus.

“Hemodialysis nursing isn’t just a job where you help and treat a guest, and then move to another that comes in,” said Gowtham. “Here at NephroPlus, you embody empathy in taking care of the guests. While you are all technically competent with your nursing degrees, hemodialysis becomes an entirely different experience because you will see the same guest again and again,” he added.

Innovation In Renal Healthcare With NephroPlus

As NephroPlus Philippines continues its strategic clinic expansion across underserved, high-CKD-prevalence areas, the company is also strengthening guest support through digital innovation. In early March 2026, the company launched the NephroPlus Guest App, the first-of-its-kind platform in the country designed to deliver comprehensive and holistic dialysis care through clinic support, a learning hub, lifestyle guidance, and a patient community network. The app is available for download on the iOS App Store and Google Play.

With the opening of its first training center and the continued innovation of the Guest App, NephroPlus strengthens its mission of transforming dialysis care in the country. Beyond expanding infrastructure, the company invests in people, ensuring that every guest receives not just treatment, but the opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.
