The city government is launching a “pabunot promo” to entice senior citizens to submit themselves to the government vaccination program.

Mayor Samuel Co said Monday he is coming up with the strategy after several senior citizens are hesitant to be inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Co said the city government is even offering free transportation to and from the vaccination site to senior citizens in rural barangays “but they still decline” to be inoculated.

Data from the Department of Health regional office showed that 4,110 senior citizens were inoculated as of June 3.

Of the total, 3,156 received their first dose while the remaining 954 got their second dose.

The City Health Office, he said, targets to inoculate 14,000 senior citizens against Covid-19.

Co has tapped the assistance of different local business establishments like bakeshops, fastfood chain, pastries, hardware and other stores to provide the needed prizes.

He said senior citizens, who fall under the A2 priority group, will be made to draw lots after they were inoculated to determine the prize that will be received. (PNA)
