Some people’s organizations from the towns of Bugallon, Aguilar, and this town have partnered with Skin Station and Chemworld Fragrance Factory in the Philippines to produce “ylang-ylang” essential oils that could be used in perfumes, soaps, and other beauty products.

In the Network Briefing News aired through the Philippine Information Agency Pangasinan on Monday, Pangasinan League of Municipalities president Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil, said an extraction facility was already put up in Barangay Bueno here for this project.

“This is to bring back the glory of our country as the top producer of ylang-ylang essential oil and also to give livelihood to the people,” he said.

Bataoil said the people’s organizations were tapped to provide the ylang-ylang flowers for the facility.

“We also encouraged them to plant more trees so that they could produce more flowers and sell them,” he said.

Bataoil added the planting of ylang-ylang trees could also help mitigate climate change, especially in the denuded mountains in the second district of Pangasinan.

The extraction facility was inaugurated last December 11. It could process up to 350 kilograms of ylang-ylang flowers daily.

Ylang-ylang, a yellow flower that grows on Cananga tree, could be sold at PHP60 per kilo, which could be processed to produce beauty products, soaps, and perfumes. (PNA)
