Six aerobic gymnasts led by Southeast Asian (SEA) Games bronze medalist Charmaine Dolar are set to join the Suzuki World Cup 2022 in Japan next week.

The Filipinos will be up against the best athletes from Australia, Hungary, Japan, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mongolia, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei in the tournament scheduled to be held at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo on December 12-14.

Dolar will compete in the women’s individual, mixed pair with Carl Joshua Tangonan, and trio with Tangonan and Lynette Ann Moreno.

Tangonan and Moreno will also see action in the individual events.

Dorothy Grace Asuncion and Enrico Ostia make up the other mixed pair while the two and Christian Roi Ramayrat are entered in the trio event.

Dolar pocketed her second consecutive individual bronze medal at the Vietnam SEA Games in May, while Moreno won the trio bronze medal with Moreno, Queenie Grace Briones, and Christopher Daniel Quevado at the 1st Aerobic Asian Cup in Mongolia in 2018.

Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) deputy secretary general Rowena Ensuya will serve as head of the delegation, which will include head coach Allena Rius, and international judges Armando Asuncion and Dane Ryan Maturan.

Rius is a FIG (Federacion Internationale de Gymnastics) Level 3 coach and International Brevet judge.

She competed at the American National Aerobic Championship in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 2001 and won several medals in the Triple “A” Sports Aerobic Championship in Hong Kong. (PNA)
