The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Negros Occidental has brought the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or the national ID services to public schools here.

The PSA services was launched at Handumanan National High School, Handumanan Elementary School I and Handumanan Elementary School II on Tuesday and Wednesday, where 184 students and school staff registered to obtain the national identification (ID).

The program will be brought to other schools until Saturday.

In an interview on Thursday, Aira Camille de la Banda, PSA-Negros Occidental national ID provincial focal person, said they partnered with the Department of Education’s Division of Bacolod City to launch the first school activation this year.

“We shared valuable information about the national ID’s various formats and benefits. The national ID, whether in card, paper or and digital form, is recognized as a valid proof of identity in all public and private transactions,” she said.

“For now, we are conducting national ID registration and information dissemination. We’re working out to include the Birth Registration Assistance Project in collaboration with the Local Civil Registry Office,” de la Banda said.

Meanwhile, Diesah Biaoco, PSA-Negros Occidental supervising statistical specialist, said they aim to reach more schools in the city under the school activation activity to promote the Philippine Identification System.

The PSA will next bring the school activation campaign to Bacolod City National High School on Friday and Bata National High School, Bata Elementary School I, and Bata Elementary School II on Saturday.

Aside from PhilSys registration, students and school staff can also avail of national ID tracking, electronic or e-PhilID printing, and verification. (PNA)
